Do I need to mail my original passport to the IRS? ▾

No — because we are an IRS Authorized CAA (Certifying Acceptance Agent), we can certify copies of your passport ourselves. You never need to mail your original passport to the IRS. This is one of the key advantages of working with a CAA vs. an Acceptance Agent.

How long does the ITIN take? ▾

Our team prepares and dispatches your application within 17 days. The IRS takes 60–90 business days to process and issue the ITIN. We dispatch on the 10th, 20th, and 30th of each month and follow up with the IRS after 6 weeks.

Can I get an ITIN without an LLC? ▾

In most cases, non-residents need a qualifying reason (like a US LLC or a US tax return that is required) to apply for an ITIN. We advise forming your LLC and getting your EIN first, then applying for the ITIN. Book a free call to discuss your specific situation.

Why do Doola and Firstbase not offer ITIN? ▾

To certify ITIN applications, a firm must be an IRS Authorized Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA). This requires a formal application, background checks, and ongoing IRS compliance. Most formation services, including Doola, Firstbase, and Stripe Atlas, have not obtained this certification — which means they legally cannot certify passports or submit W-7 forms as certified agents.
